What Is Kerakoll H40 Gel?
H40 Gel is part of Kerakoll’s H40 range of Gel-Adhesives, built on Kerakoll’s proprietary Gel-Technology research into rheology and mix-design. The product is supplied as a white or grey pre-mixed powder in 25 kg bags and is classified C2 TE S1 under EN 12004, a structural, highly flexible, high-performance adhesive.
The gel-like mix gives H40 Gel a thixotropic and fluid consistency at the same time: soft and workable under the spreader, yet stable enough to hold the tile’s weight and thickness without slumping. This makes it suitable for a wide range of laying professionals working on floors and walls, including contractors, tile installers, architects, consultants, developers and procurement teams sourcing adhesive for residential and commercial projects across Dubai and the UAE.
Built on Kerakoll Gel-Technology
High Adhesion & Flexibility
Delivers structural adhesion combined with high flexibility, suitable for tiled systems subject to movement and stress.
Excellent Wettability & Fluidity
Fully wets the back of the tile, helping installers achieve solid bedding with minimal voids beneath the tile.
Variable Rheology (Thixo & Fluid)
Soft and workable under the spreader, yet holds shape and thickness under the weight of the tile once applied.
Ideal for Large Formats
Extended open time and full wettability support the handling and double-spreading procedures large format slabs require.
Ideal for Underfloor Heating Systems
Tested to respond to the shear stresses generated by substrate expansion in heated floor systems.
High Deformability
Transversal deformation of ≥2.5 mm suits substrates and tiled systems that experience structural movement.
What This Means on Site
For Contractors & Installers
An extended open time (≥60 minutes at +23°C) and correction time (≥20 minutes at +23°C) give installers room to work without the mix skinning over, reducing rework and material waste on large-area laying.
For Developers & Project Owners
A single C2 TE S1-classified adhesive covers porcelain, ceramic and natural stone applications across a project, simplifying procurement while meeting EN 12004 structural adhesion requirements.
For Large-Format Tile Projects
Total wettability of the tile back is fundamental to solid bedding when laying large formats, where handling and double-spreading procedures require extended working time.
For Indoor Air Quality
H40 Gel is EC1 Plus and GEV-Emicode certified for low VOC emissions, supporting healthier indoor environments for both installation teams and building occupants.
Where Kerakoll H40 Gel Can Be Used
Kerakoll H40 Gel is suitable for porcelain tiles, laminated stoneware and stoneware with backing materials, low-thickness slabs, ceramic tiles, large format tiles, marble and natural stone, cement-based recomposed materials, glass mosaics, glass tiles, and terracotta/klinker.
Substrates
- Existing floors and existing tiles
- Waterproofing products (with laying screed on top)
- Heated floors
- Cement-based screeds & self-levelling products
- Concrete, plasterboard, fibro-cement slabs
- Gypsum & anhydrite, cellular concrete, brick
- Lime and cement-based plasters/renders
- Thermal insulation panelling systems
- Timber, metal, PVC (after Active Prime Fix/Grip, internal use only)
Project Types
- Residential & commercial projects
- Industrial applications
- Terraces, balconies & facades
- Swimming pools & fountains
- Saunas & spas
- Street furniture
- Interior & exterior use
- Areas subject to heavy foot traffic
For marble, natural stone and cement-based recomposed materials that are subject to deformation or staining from water absorption, Kerakoll recommends a quick-setting or reactive adhesive and advises consulting Kerakoll Global Service for material-specific guidance.
Gel-Technology: Engineered Rheology, Not Just a Standard Adhesive
Standard cement-based tile adhesives are typically formulated around a single, fixed consistency. H40 Gel's Gel-Technology instead balances six performance parameters, weight support with no shrinkage, shear strength, extreme fluidity, full wettability, resistance to thermal stress, and resistance in water, so the mix behaves differently under the spreader than it does once the tile is bedded.
Durability is verified through Kerakoll's internal SAS (Shock Absorbing System) protocol, which subjects samples to cyclic physical-chemical, thermal and mechanical stresses that exceed standard test limits, simulating the tiled system's full life cycle. H40 Gel also contains recycled inert material from quarry waste and is analysed through an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) study.
